Dear Glennon Heights Families,

My name is Kevin Kolasa and I am pleased to write this letter of introduction to you as the principal of Glennon Heights Elementary for the 2020-2021 school-year. This is my second year as the principal of Glennon Heights and it is my privilege and honor to be working for this school and community. I am excited about the school year especially since I have personally witnessed so many wonderful things from the staff, students, and the supportive community here at Glennon. I am joining Jefferson County School District again from when I was an assistant principal at D’Evelyn Jr./Sr. High School from 2009 to 2011 in the school district where I currently live and call home.

Currently, I am in my twentieth year as an educator; six as a special education teacher in both elementary and middle school, and fourteen as a school administrator. Prior to working at Glennon, I had been employed at Euclid Middle School, as an assistant principal for Littleton Public Schools. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Glennon Heights Elementary School and I look forward to working with you as a partner in education to ensure your child’s success.

I am fortunate to be in a profession for which I am passionate about and one that I feel we make a difference every day. I believe that the students and the teachers in the school deserve nothing but my best. If I were not challenging myself and giving my 100% every day, I would be neglectful as a leader. One of my core beliefs is that education is our most important institution because what we do as educators today impacts the outcome of tomorrow. The landscape of education is constantly changing and therefore we should continually adapt to fit the needs of our students regardless of race, ethnic background, language acquisition, and economic status. Moreover, all students can be successful in school as well as in life. However, this exceptional education does not happen in isolation. This success can only occur when schools work collaboratively with their community and families.

In my tenure, I have had many diverse experiences that have helped me grow as an educator and as an effective leader. Of all my achievements, I am happy to say that I am undoubtedly most proud of my family. My three wonderful children; son Tatum (13) and twin daughters Elyn (9) and Malia (9). The twins attend Red Rocks Elementary and my son is at Dunstan Middle School. My wife Abby, is a hospital social worker who is so supportive and encourages me each day how to gain a balance between my career and home.

Once again, I am so thankful and honored to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to your community.

There is no issue too small or too large that we cannot resolve together. If it matters to you, it matters to me. I look forward to getting to know all of our wonderful students and working with you, the parents, and the community members of Glennon Heights Elementary School.

Sincerely,

Kevin Kolasa
Principal, Glennon Heights Elementary
